Thermo-auricular Therapy

Also known as Hopi Ear Candles Treatment, this therapy induces a pleasant feeling of warmth and balance of pressure in the ears, forehead and sinuses. It is helpful for the relief of earache, headache, migraines, tinitus, chronic colds, sinus problems, vertigo and hay fever.

 

The Theory

During the burning process, the heat and changing pressure stimulates the peripheral blood circulation, thus intensifying the immune defense system and strengthening the cleansing circulation of the lymph glands.

Some wax can be immediately withdrawn into the candles, but following the heat from the vapors the compacted wax can soften and fall out up 48 hours after the treatment.

What Happens During a Treatment?

The client lies on their side on the treatment couch, as one candle at a time is gently rested over the ear canal and burnt.

 

The treatment is pain free, and each candle takes between 10-15 minutes to burn down. The ear is then gently massaged, stimulating the reflex points in the ear. Often followed by a face massage, working the sinus areas.

 

Following the burning of each candle the client will remain rested on the couch for 10 to 15 minutes.

 

The Ear Candles

Each candle is an all-natural product. They are hand crafted according to a traditional formula. Each candle is constructed of organically grown flax, honey extracts, beeswax and powdered, biologically grown therapeutic herbs, including Camomile, Sage and Hypericum (St Johns Wort) as used by the Hopi Indians.

Nanette Murcer, Emmalene Katayama and Rosie Mor are all multi-skilled and highly experienced holistic therapists.

Emmalene Katayama is an Intuitive Healer who uses a range of therapies to help you tune into your core self. She also practices Spiritual Healing, Indian Head Massage, aspects of Shamanism and Thermo-auricular Therapy (Hopi Ear Candles). Emmalene is the founder and head teacher of the Yorkshire School of Holistic Aromatherapy.

Rosie Mor is our resident Kinesiology and Body Worker. Rosie offers a "tool-box" of treatments and therapies to help you unwind aching muscles or support you through change.

Nanette Murcer is our resident clairvoyant and tarot reader as well as a multi-talented therapist. Nanette works with Reiki, body-work, massage and intuitive healing to help you gain balance.
